… Based in Berlin and Düsseldorf, Carsten Sander is a well-known German photographer and artist. Taking its inspiration from the epochal photo projects by August Sander (people of the 20th century) and the humanistic exhibition project “The Family of Man” on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, “Faces of Europe” seeks to contribute to a reflection on European values. Against the levelling backdrop of untreated canvas, Sander captures individual moments reflecting an “attitude” in the spirit of the Enlightenment.
